The Fujairah Municipality has shut down an outlet after a viral video which showed a staff cleaning his nails using the same cutter that was used for cutting vegetables and fruits.
The municipality also imposed a hefty fine on the worker and suspended him.
The outlet is located at one of the traditional markets in the emirate, according to a senior official here.
Eng Mohamed Saif Al Afkham, Director of the Fujairah Municipality, said the inspection team rushed to the outlet when alerted about the incident.
“The shop was immediately shut down while the worker was slapped with a hefty fine and suspended.”
The civic body deals with zero tolerance with such risky public health violations, he said.
“All outlets need to strictly observe the sanitation rules and health protocols issued by the municipality,” he added.
