The recent regional developments and escalation of tension between the US and Iran will not affect citizens, residents, or visitors to the UAE, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has said.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the ministry said all sectors across the country continue to operate as normal.
The ministry also said it was closely following regional developments, and reaffirmed the importance of de-escalating current tensions. It stressed the importance of dialogue and political solutions in the current situation after Iran attacked two military bases in Iraq to exact revenge on the killing of their top commander Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad.
The Dubai Media Office in a tweet said the rumours being circulated regarding security threats targeting Dubai are fake and haven't been issued from any official source in the Iranian Government. "We urge everyone to refrain from circulating fake news and spreading rumours."
UAE Energy and Industry Minister, Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, said what is happening now should not be exaggerated. "This is definitely an escalation between the United States, which is an ally, and Iran, which is a neighbour, and the last thing we want is more tension in the Middle East," he said on the sidelines of a conference in Abu Dhabi.
