All the staff members of nursery schools in Sharjah will have to undergo a RT-PCR test for Covid-19 every two weeks once the nurseries reopen next week.
The Sharjah Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, in cooperation with the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA), has decided to reopen all government and private-run nursery schools from March 28.
All tools and equipment being used in the 74 nurseries in Sharjah, including the 35 nurseries run by private entities, must be regularly sterilised to keep the viral infection at bay, the authorities said.
According to a set of guidelines issued by the SPEA, food for the children attending the nurseries must be provided by their parents. Nursery management needs to ensure all Covid-19 related precautionary norms are complied with.
The authorities have communicated the official decision following an intensified drive to monitor the compliance with Covid-19 precautionary measures to safeguard children’s health.
Dr Mohadatha Al Hashemi, Chairperson of the SPEA, said special attention is being laid on safety measures in schools and, especially, nurseries.
The organisation has issued several guidelines for all educational institutions in the emirate.
“The decision to reopen the nurseries was made after all preparations were made to ensure the safety of children,” she added.
