The holy month of Ramadan encourages Muslims and non-Muslims in UAE to come together for generous causes and charitable activities.
And the preparations of extending help to the underprivileged people is in full swing in Dubai.
A group of 400 volunteers is all set to organise 'Aman Campaign' during the holy month of Ramadan.
Apart from distribution of clothes, hygiene products, fruits, eatables, juices in different labour camps, this group will start giving Iftar meals at the major traffic signals of the city from June 6.
Saadia Pathan, an accountant by profession, said: "Charity should not be just restricted to the Ramadan. As a volunteer, she wants to make sure to support and help needy people.
Lalit Naval, who works with International Humanitarian City (IHC), said: "I work as a volunteer in the evenings and weekends with Dubai Cares with the single aim of reaching out to people suffering from poverty. Activities during Ramadan includes visiting the ladies labour camps."
One of the leading supermarket chains, the Lulu Group, will join the Ramadan charity drive with Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Makhtoum Charity & Humanitarian Foundation, which aims at distributing shopping cards to deserving Emirati families in the UAE.
Yusuf Ali, owner of the Lulu Group, said: "We are honoured to be part of the initiative, which is in its the 9th. We are planning to distribute a total of 8,360 cards worth Dh4 million. We are happy to bring happiness in the lives of underprivileged during the holy month of Ramadan."
Charity is not only limited to the food supply and distributing goodies, it also means to make the labourers in the city feel special.
St. Mary's Catholic Church presents 'Shukran Dubai' this Friday - a day dedicated to the underprivileged people in the society by organising fun activities, medical camps, music and entertainment and games for them.
Other than this, there are many groups who prefer to help the underprivileged quietly as charity is meant to be done silently.
One such group organises four mega events in a year on different occasions and festivals to support them.
