The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment just issued a circular to the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, as well as to the municipalities of Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras al Khaimah and Fujairah, banning a sesame-derived food from UAE.
A brand of the popular sesame food product has been found containing Salmonella, according to local Arabic media.
The product "Halawa Al Burj", an import from a Syrian company, was also contaminated by fungal aflatoxins.
All necessary precautions will be undertaken to ensure the product is not traded, brought in, or consumed without being free of all contaminants.
