Cartoon characters Tom and Jerry made a special appearance at the bedsides of scores of children on Tuesday morning at an Abu Dhabi hospital to bring smiles, laughter and fun to the youngsters during their treatment.
The appearance was organised by Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, exhibiting the authority's commitment to providing initiatives and activities to the community for the 2017 Abu Dhabi Summer Season.
The visit was arranged at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) in association with MBC Group, which is bringing the live Tom and Jerry Crystal Quest show to Abu Dhabi and Al Ain as part of the Abu Dhabi Summer Season from July 20 to August 20.
"Taking Tom and Jerry to visit the children was enormous pleasurable, not only for the children but also for their family and the staff at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City," said Mubarak Al Shamsi from TCA Abu Dhabi.
"As the organiser of the annual summer season, we take it upon ourselves to help others who are not so fortunate and cannot get out and enjoy the activities. We are delighted to make the youngsters' time in hospital a little more comfortable and take their minds off their illnesses."
Tom and Jerry, the much-loved comedy duo, which first hit US television screens in the 1940s, will be appearing at Al Raha Beach Theatre in Abu Dhabi from July 20-22 and at Al Ain Municipality Theatre in Al Ain region from July 27-29.
