The Sharjah Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) will honour the participants of the 'Together for a Beautiful Summer' children's activity programme at a ceremony to be held today.
Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of the authority (EPAA), said: "The EPAA pays great attention to environmental efforts and awareness activities which enhance and develop the capabilities and skills of students of all ages. By helping to invest in the talents and potential of children, the EPAA encourages them to benefit from their time fruitfully."
Al Suwaidi said that the programme's aim is to develop creative thinking for all participants. It also aims to promote collective action and team spirit, providing an educational environment that motivates students to attain their full creative potential.
"The programme introduces the children to some innovative educational workshops and acquaints them with the importance of reading and its evolution in local communities," Al Suwaidi added.
The programme's series of activities took place in several locations across the UAE, including Sharjah, Dubai and Al Ain. The first was held at Sharjah Desert Park Centres where children were taken on field tours of the Natural History Museum, the Islamic Park and the Botanical Museum.
The programme also included a visit to Dubai Festival Mall, where children joined in creative workshops, organised in Café Ceramique. In Al Ain, children were taken on a tour of the zoo, visited Al Ain Mall and Al Ain National Museum.
In additional activities, a familiarisation tour of the Wasit Wetland Centre was organised, where the participants enjoyed several activities, including a puppet theatre, Wasit bird spotting and story reading. A trip to Ghantoot and Arabia's Wildlife Centre was the last event on the programme where children watched a short movie reviewing the summer's activities and a competition was conducted for the most beautiful photographs taken by the students.
The Sharjah Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) is working in accordance with the directives of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to protect the environment, wildlife and biodiversity. This is achieved through a combination of scientific research, appropriate awareness policies and support of sustainable development to preserve natural environment resources for both present and future generations.
