It has been barely two weeks since Tesla announced its big entry into the UAE market, and the Dubai royalty is already driving the green machines on its swanky roads, pushing the vehicle to its limit.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, recently put up pictures on Instagram of him driving a Tesla on what looks like the Sheikh Zayed Road during the recent spell of rain.
At a time when fuel costs are rising and countries are pushing to reduce consumption of fossil fuel, a member of the Dubai royal family taking an electric car for a spin on the emirate's most popular road is surely a push towards the green change.
Tesla had launched its flagship models -- Model S and Model X -- on the sidelines of the World Government Summit 2017 in Dubai earlier this month.
The Model S is an electric luxury sedan. Its bigger brother, the Model X, is a crossover SUV. According to reports, prices start at Dh275,000 for Model S and Dh344,000 for Model X.
One of Tesla first customers in the UAE was none other than the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), which inked an agreement to purchase 200 cars to expand its green fleet, a perfect example of the government leading from the front.
