Roofs of two shops in a used cars market in Ajman collapsed on vehicles after being blown down by strong winds on Wednesday, November 20.
Upon receiving the report about the incident, the Ajman Police rushed to the site and inspected the area. No casualties were reported, though a number of cars were damaged. The traffic police issued certificates to the car owners.
Winds also tore down roofs of some old houses in Al Nuaimiya area, and some debris came falling on the streets from an under-construction building, authorities said.
Brigadier Abdullah Saif Al Matrooshi, director-general of operations at Ajman Police, urged all drivers and road users to take caution amid the unstable weather, particularly when passing by newly constructed buildings.
"Everyone is advised to be wary of materials that may fall off buildings and take necessary precautions to avoid accidents and injuries," the officer said.
