Dubai's Indian community celebrated India's 67th Republic Day with great pomp and fervor at the Indian Consulate in Dubai and the Indian High School, Oud Metha.
After hoisting the national flag at the Consulate, revelers headed over to IHS for the schools annual R-Day parade. Consul-General Anurag Bhushan was the Chief-guest for the event and hoisted the Indian flag and read extracts from the address to the nation by the President of India on the eve of Republic Day.
Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag raised the Indian flag as part of the parade celebrations.
Several hundred Indian residents gathered at the Indian Consulate in Dubai and the Indian High School to witness the parade. Over 1000 students from the school marched the school grounds.
School student and participant at the parade Sanam Lulla (16) said: "Being here for the parade reminds me of home... The patriotic fever is high and it feels like I am in India."
