A prisoner was surprised by his family coming to visit him to celebrate his only daughter's 8th birthday in Dubai.
This was because his daughter's birthday happened to coincide this year with Flag Day celebrations held on Thursday.
The man was exceptionally touched because he hadn't been reunited with his family for more than three years.
The correctional facility celebrated her birthday by throwing her a grand birthday party, complete with a cake and several gifts.
Lieutenant Colonel Jamila Al Za'abi, manager of the women's prison at the correctional and punitive institution, and head of the activities committee congratulated the officers and the UAE's leaders on the grand occasion of Flag Day.
She intimated that the man, a Colombian national, is a recent convert to Islam and memorised 10 chapters from the Qur'an. The man is a model citizen at the facility and follows all rules. He had also been looking forward to her birthday by sewing a shirt for her at the facility's sewing station.
He was planning to send her the shirt and wish her happy birthday on the phone, but the facility gave him the surprise of his life by bringing her, his wife and the child's grandmother to see him.
