The Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) on Wednesday announced plans to establish the first hospital - the Clemenceau Medical Centre - in its Phase 2 expansion in Al Jadaf, Dubai, and the third general hospital for the free zone, expanding its range of specialised care.
The upcoming 110-bed hospital will have advances such as robotic surgery, and wide-ranging inpatient and outpatient services. The hospital is part of the Clemenceau Medicine Network of hospitals, including the Clemenceau Medical Centre in Beirut, Lebanon, which is affiliated with John Hopkins Medicine International.
The Joint Commission International (JCI)-accredited Centre in Beirut was recognised as one of the top 10 hospitals globally for medical tourism by the independent international organisation Medical Travel Quality Alliance.
The Clemenceau Medical Centre in Phase 2 is being developed at a cost of approximately Dh400 million in partnership with Khansaheb Investment and is expected to receive patients by 2018.
She explained that the free zone's strategy is built on optimising healthcare capacity. "In implementing our growth strategy, we encourage investment to increase access to services that are in demand to serve local patients and medical travelers. ," she said.
The new hospital will have six state-of-the-art operating theatres, employing the latest available technologies and medical procedures to augment the overall treatment methodologies and improve patients' medical experience.
It will also have services for medical travelers including a dedicated department with multi-lingual patient coordinators to plan all aspects of medical travel from consultation and hospital admission to transport and hotel arrangements (if needed, air ambulance transportation) and second opinion and consultations via telemedicine.
Dr Raja Al Gurg, Vice-Chairperson and Executive Director of Dubai Healthcare City Authority, said, "Phase 2 of Dubai Healthcare City will increase the free zone's health services and support Dubai's economic diversification. As a contributor to this healthcare value chain, we link factors of digital innovation, unique concepts, and specialization."
