Over 5,000 students, educators and stakeholders in the education industry took part in the inaugural edition of KT UniExpo. The first-of-its-kind two-day education expo that opened on Thursday saw an overwhelming response from exhibitors and visitors.
While the first day focused on school visits, the second was dedicated to students who came along with their parents. Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, had opened the expo and called it an "excellent community outreach programme" by Khaleej Times.
In an earlier interview with KT, Hammadi said: "To put the efforts to reach out to school students and provide them with career advice for the future does have a tremendous impact on the community."
The students were able to avail of higher education options, address queries regarding the programme which suits them best, and discover the on-campus recruitment and internship opportunities. A total of 24 pre-registered schools from across the UAE attended the event. Participating schools included Ajman Modern School, American School of Creative Science, Dubai, British International School Ajman, Reach British School, Abu Dhabi, and the Emirates National School, Sharjah.
A content-rich educational seminar took place on both days, highlighting essential topics related to higher education, including finances, scholarship opportunities, IELTS examinations, and opportunities to study abroad.
Psychometric tests to evaluate students' future careers and a rapid-fire quiz competition where a group of students won tickets to the La Perle show were some of the most popular events at the exhibition.
Dr Ajay Shukla, co-founder and chief strategy officer, Higher Education UAE and regional managing director Middle East and Africa, INTCAS, said: "It has been a wonderful effort, and we see thousands of excited students in the corridors.

Meanwhile, a student said: "This expo has been quite informative as I have heard about how majors, double majors and minors work, and about transfer programmes."
Carl Roberts, executive principal and CEO of The Westminster School, said the KT UniExpo was a "wonderful opportunity" for students.
"They attended a masterclass and got a lot out of it. We are very much looking forward to working with all these wonderful universities and making sure that students get the best possible opportunities."
Raj Kapoor, assistant dean, school of business administration and director of student recruitment at the American University in Dubai, said: "Who wouldn't want to be here? It's by Khaleej Times, all of Dubai is here!
"We are glad we are here; it has been an incredible two days."
