More than 100 tankers and pumps were deployed in Ras Al Khaimah on Monday, October 14, to drain out the accumulated rainwater following Sunday's flash showers.
Ahmed Hamad Al Shehi, an advisor to the department of public works, RAK, said the tankers and pumps have been pressed into service to tackle the situation immediately.
Rainwater also swamped different parts of Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah.
Mountainous areas and valleys in the three emirates were affected by the heavy rain, while some parts witnessed hail.
The mercury dropped to 18.4 degrees Celsius on Jebel Jais Mountain at 04:30am on Monday, according to the weatherman with the National Center of Meteorology.
"The weather is expected to be fair to partly cloudy on Tuesday, October 15, with some clouds predicted eastward and southward."
The wind is to be light to moderate Southeasterly to Northeasterly, freshening at times, he added.
"The wind speed is to be 18-28 kmph, reaching 38 kmph, while the sea is predicted to be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea."
Abdullah Salem, an Emirati national at Shamal area, RAK, told Khaleej Times that several valleys in northern and southern parts were flooded with the heavy downpour.
Heavy to moderate showers were reported in several areas of the emirate of Umm Al Quwain.
"It rained heavily in Falaj Al Mualla in Umm Al Quwain, and most roads were flooded with rainwater."
The RAK, UAQ and Fujairah Police have urged all drivers to avoid the valleys and mountainous areas, and be extra careful on the wet and flooded roads.
"Drivers need to reduce speed, observe safety distance and avoid the valleys and mountainous areas due to the unstable weather conditions."
