Tired of going around, wasting your time, while looking for a parking space? Now, there's an app to solve your problem.
As part of its smart initiative, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a parking reservation app at the 38th Gitex Technology Week on Sunday.
With a touch of the screen, parking will be reserved in advance at a premium cost of Dh10 per hour by the time of reserving the parking slot and an additional Dh10 for every succeeding hour, payable through debit or credit card.
The app is initially available on Android devices but will also soon be offered on iPhones and other iOS-powered gadgets.
Parking reservations, however, are currently limited only in two areas at Dubai Marina and Dubai Media City but the RTA said more areas will soon be added in the next phase of the smart parking initiative.
The RTA also launched a slew of other smart initiatives, including Nol Plus (a customer loyalty points program) to promote the use of public transport; an automated chat bot system called Mahbob that use artificial intelligence in communicating with RTA customers; and an updated version of S'hail, that allows the public enabling customers to access all transport means in Dubai through a single app.
