The Abu Dhabi Traffic Court has said that traffic fines and parking violations or "Mawaqif" will be reduced by 25 per cent.
This reduction applies to traffic fines and parking violations committed in the emirate of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain and Al Dhafra areas only. The rest of the emirates are excluded from this reduction, as per an Al Bayan report.
The Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi has placed a number of restrictions on reverting the traffic violation to the court to obtain the discount.
First, visit the Customer Happiness Centre at Abu Dhabi Police Headquarters in person, with your Emirates ID, drivers licence and car registration, and go to the fines department.
There, a list of unpaid fines on your record will be printed, after which you fill out a form which transfers the violations to the Traffic Court.
The following day, head to the main building at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate and confirm that your application has been received.
Thereafter, take your papers to the Traffic Court's branch at the directorate.
After paying the reduced fines, submit your receipt to the police to clear the violation from your record.
The Traffic Court is open every day from 8am till 12pm (noon).
