The General Department Of Punitive & Correctional Establishments of the Dubai police and the Dubai Courts have launched a video service for jail inmates.
On the directives of Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, together with the Criminal Investigation Department, the joint project was launched in the presence of Judge Khalid Al Mansoori, the implementation team of Dubai Courts, acting director of General Department Of Punitive & Correctional Establishments Colonel Marwan Julphar, and a number of officers.
Colonel Julphar presented a live broadcast of an interview with a prison inmate to Judge Jassim Al Zarouni of Dubai Courts, marking the successful completion of the project through integrated coordination between the two parties.
"Today, we are witnessing the birth of a new project to be added to the series of projects and distinguished services offered by the General Department of Punitive and Corrective Establishment to inmates. The programme consists of the implementation of the applications of prison inmates who have civil, legal and executive cases without being transferred to the courts," Colonel Julphar said.
He noted that the project is an unprecedented step and the first of its kind at the level of penal and reform institutions in the country. It aims to keep pace with innovation and excellence, bringing happiness to inmates, and comply with the Dubai Police's directives in line with the government's vision on smart provisions for all segments of society.
Colonel Julphar thanked the Dubai Courts for their cooperation in the project's implementation and their pivotal role in enhancing cooperation between the two parties, which resulted in a successful community partnership.
