New payscale for Imams, preachers, and Muezzins

His Highness Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, for his generosity in increasing salaries of mosque Imams, preachers and Muezzins.

In a statement here, Mr Dhaheri said that Shaikh Zayed's concern for mosque workers showed the deep respect for mosques in his thinking.


The minister also praised Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for his support for religious activities.

According to the new payscale, the grade of national Imams will be 1/3 with a basic salary ranging from Dh2,800 to Dh3,500, making a total monthly emolument between Dh8,112 and Dh9,285.


National Muezzins will be in grade 2/3 with a basic salary of Dh2,275 to Dh2,800, making the total monthly income in the range of Dh7,094 to Dh8,112.

Non-UAE Imams will be in grade 2/3 with the basic salary starting at Dh1,820 and ending at Dh2,240, and the monthly emolument ranging from Dh3,476 to Dh4,232.

Non-UAE Muezzins will get grade 3/3 with a basic salary ranging from Dh1,450 to Dh1,820, with a total monthly income of Dh2,810 at the lower level and Dh3,476 at the higher level.

A cabinet decision also stipulated that a Dh600 bonus should be given to every Imam who delivers the Friday sermon, both citizens and expatriates.

It also said that the new payscale should apply to all present staff immediately after enforcement new rule.
