A minibus used to transport workers caught fire on Sharjah's King Faisal Road on Tuesday. On noticing smoke emanating from the vehicle's engine, the driver stopped it and asked all 10 passengers to get off.
As soon as they did, the vehicle burst into flames.
As a result of the driver's swift action, none of the workers were injured.
Major Hani Al Dahmani of the Sharjah Civil Defence said the incident was reported at 2.40pm. Firefighters from two civil defence stations rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze. The minivan was, however, completely gutted.
The police have launched an investigation to ascertain how the vehicle caught fire.
