Sripal Aagadu, a mason at a construction site in Qusais, is happy that he got a two-and-a-half hour break during the hottest months of the year. "However, it is still hot. Our company allows us to slow down during the hot hours. But, humidity makes it harder to work," he said.
The mandatory midday break that began on June 15 ended on Sunday. It prevented any outdoor labour work between 12.30pm and 3pm.
Humidity set to increase: NCM
The summer has not slowed down yet and the harsh summer is still holding strong. Sharing the weather report for the coming week, the National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) said: "The weather is expected to be partly cloudy with temperatures expected to reach highs of 45°C internally and 41°C on the coast and islands."
The NCM said the humidity will increase late night and early morning over internal and coastal areas with a chance of fog or mist. On Tuesday, the weather will be fair to partly cloudy. However, high humidity is expected throughout the week.
