A Dubai expat, who allegedly duped a Pakistani man of Dh42,000 after selling him eight fake entry permits, has been charged with fraud and forgery, as he stood trial at the Court of First Instance.
According to public prosecution records, the 36-year-old Indian, who is an operations manager, cheated the complainant of the amount after falsely claiming to him that he would get him entry permits for some workers into the UAE.
He gave him some copies, which he forged from some old visas and in which he altered the personal details and names of the applicant workers.
The case dates back to December 5 last year and was registered at Al Qusais police station. The manager was detained following the complaint. The defendant has an accomplice who is at large.
The complainant, a 32-year-old Pakistani employee, said during the public prosecution investigation that in November last year, he asked the defendant to bring eight workers from Pakistan for him. "I paid him Dh42,000 for that service. About one month later, he handed over eight employment visas. But the visas were rejected by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs as fake."
During the police interrogation and the prosecution investigation, the defendant admitted he forged the visas and used them.
A letter from the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship said that all the visas, subject of the case, are fake. Copies of those visas have been attached to the case file as prosecution evidence.
The manager will be sentenced on March 30.
