A Saudi national, who assaulted a police officer and resisted being detained by other policemen at a Dubai airport, has been charged in court.
According to public prosecution records, the 22-year-old accused was allegedly drunk when he punched an on duty police officer at Dubai International Airport - as he was taking him into detention.
The incident took place on December 31, 2017.
The Court of First Instance charged him with assaulting a police officer, resisting detention and consuming alcohol without a licence.

"I was on duty at the airport police office at 1 am on the night of December 30-31, 2017. The accused had just been detained and I was trying to talk him into entering detention when he punched me in the face all of a sudden," the policeman said.
The officer added the defendant then fiercely resisted being detained by other officers.

The cop submitted a medical report - on the same day - showing that the assault had left him with a black eye.
The accused confessed during public prosecution investigation to the charge of consuming alcohol.
The trial will continue on January 29.
