A Gulf national succumbed to fatal injuries he received after he was run over by a speeding car on the Etihad Road in of Umm Al Quwain on Wednesday.
The victim was crossing the road close to Tasheel centre when the vehicle rammed into him, according to Col Saeed Obaid, director of the traffic and patrols department, UAQ Police.
The central operations room of the Umm Al Quwain Police dispatched a traffic patrol, an ambulance, paramedics and rescue teams to the site after being informed about the accident.
"The victim, who had sustained grave injuries and fractures all over his body, was rushed to the Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in Umm Al Quwain." However, he was declared dead at the hospital, he added.
"Initial enactment of the accident showed that the victim was crossing the road from a non-designated area when the car, driven by a woman, hit him."
Col Saeed Obaid urged motorists to remain focused on the wheel and adhere to speed limits on all roads.
Delivery boy injured in RAK
A 30-year-old Indian delivery boy sustained severe injuries in a run-over accident in Ras Al Khaimah.
The Indian youth, identified only as Khalil B L, was delivering a parcel at Al Seeh area in Ras Al Khaimah when the speeding car crashed into him, according to informed sources.
He was rushed to the Saqr Hospital by the rescue team, said officials, adding that he is supposed to have a surgery in his face soon.
