A man was caught with $20,100 in fake bills, the Dubai Court of First Instance heard on Wednesday. Public prosecution records show that the 37-year-old Arab man was caught at the Dubai International Airport on January 30 for "knowingly importing" the fake bills.
During the police interrogation, the defendant admitted he had made the fake $100 bills in Kurdistan and brought them here to film himself in a video with them.
The counterfeit money, which was found in the defendant's bag, has been seized. The forensics department report showed that the 201 bills found with the accused were detailed enough to dupe unsuspecting victims.
The trial has been adjourned to September 15.
