As UAE schools and universities gear up for campus reopening after summer break, the Ministry of Education (MoE) recently issued an advisory, explaining the protocol that have to be followed if a Covid-19 case is detected during the school year.
The circular, a copy of which was studied by Khaleej Times, detailed  comprehensive guidelines that also included testing phases. Here are some of the main points detailed in the MoE document:
What happens if someone in the school tests positive for Covid-19?
1-The person must be quarantined and the health authority's safety protocols must be implemented
2-Identify all the people who may have been in contact with the person
3-Disinfect classrooms or any other area the person had visited

Contact-tracing and quarantine
>If one of the teachers is infected,  all teachers and students he/she may have come in contact with must be tested and placed under self-quarantine.
>If one of the staff is infected, all other staff members he/she may have come in contact with will be tested, and the person must be placed under self-quarantine
>If one student is infected, all the students and teachers he/she may have come in contact with must be tested and will be asked to do self-quarantine with directives of health authority
If more than one teacher or student is infected...
>On-campus classes must be stopped and distance learning will be implemented for 14 days
>All students, teachers and staff must undergo a 14-day quarantine
