The Food Safety Department clarified in a statement that liquid nitrogen is used in many industrial applications such as rapid cooling of ice and in making ice cream, and there is no harm in consuming the food that is manufactured using liquid nitrogen.
"It is used to a simple extent, just enough to freeze the ice cream and after using, it is turned into nitrogen gas which gets volatilized, so that nothing is left in the final product," read the statement.
