This Ramadan, my first one, seems to be bringing a host of new experiences for me. Talking about an unusual phenomena that I've started experiencing this holy month, I have to be clear in saying that I usually don't get dreams. But, I have been getting some real nice dreams this month.
I do not know if they have some meaning attached to them or not. All I know is that I have been getting good ones and they leave me with good vibes, Alhamdulillah.
Today after Asr prayers, I decided to chill and take a power nap. This is when I saw a very real dream. I dreamt I was in my house and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, came to my house with a few of his friends. In my dream, I saw him come and talk to me about fasting. He asked me how it was going and if I have had any issues while fasting. We then talked about discipline and fasting and then he asked me if I was okay to go for a workout with him because it was his time to workout and he needed to do a different workout.
The amazing part of my Ramadan dreams is that I remember them very well. They don't feel like dreams but like real life actions as I even remember the conversation and dialogues in them. Anyhow, coming back to my dream, I remember being super happy and feeling honoured at seeing the crown prince. I agreed to go for a workout with the prince and I remember thinking what to do for him.
I follow Sheikh Hamdan's Instagram account and I know for sure that he doesn't do Jiu-Jitsu. I clearly remember thinking that I won't let go this opportunity and decided a nice workout including some elements of Jiu-Jitsu and mixed martial arts (my profession).
More importantly, I had a conversation with him where we discussed how being a sports person disciplines us but then the focus suddenly comes to how fasting is the highest form of discipline in all three levels - mental, physical and spiritual.
I remember how ecstatic I got and in my dream, I could hear myself telling my parents, "Hey folks, look who is here. The prince of Dubai and look how humble he is."
When I woke up from my power nap I had such a good feeling and I felt happy that in my dream I was talking about the essence of fasting. My dream just made me ponder once again on to the beautiful practice of fasting and that how it disciplines our mind, body and soul as we bow our head in obedience to Allah. I have also learnt that good dreams with good meaning and feeling come from Allah so I am hopeful that since I felt good after this dream, it would bring some great rewards, both physically and spiritually In Sha Allah.
