A young drug addict landed in jail after he lost consciousness and slumped to the ground while having a haircut at a saloon.
Records showed that the man - who was high - asked the barber to trim his hair. The hairdresser was unaware that the youth was under the influence of narcotics. The man suddenly became unsteady and fell from his chair.
The rattled hairdresser immediately alerted the national ambulance. The paramedics administered first aid to the young man, and shifted him to the hospital.
Traces of drugs were found in the blood samples collected from the man.
The RAK Police arrested him, while investigations showed that he had a police record as a drug abuser.
The man admitted to his crime, and told the anti-narcotics team that he had consumed drugs at a friend's house before going to the barber shop.
The police stormed the friend's house where they found some used syringes with traces of narcotics.
The friend, who was also a drug addict, was referred to the RAK Public Prosecution. The seized syringes were also presented to the prosecution, which charged the two with abusing drugs.
The duo's girlfriend was also accused of helping them get the drugs.
The trio was referred to the RAK Criminal Court, which found the two young men guilty of taking drugs and sentenced them each to two years in jail.
The court ordered the girlfriend to pay a fine of Dh10,000, followed by deportation.
