With over seven years of experience in the public relations (PR) industry, Bijal Soni heads the communications and PR department of the Middle East's huge online fashion retailer, Namshi.com. Soni ratcheted up valuable experience before moving to Namshi as part of their PR and Events department in September 2014. Today, she heads the entire team, devising innovative fashion strategies for the company's online fashion platform. A health and fitness fiend, when Soni isn't at the office she can be found in the gym or posting her PR diaries on her blog.
Blogging
It's like having two jobs but I thrive off of it. I started my blog myprdiaries.com a little over a year ago, which revolves around style, travel and food, aka the reason for my existence. I have met such amazing and heartwarming people just through my blog! Some of these beautiful humans are now a part of my daily life and have helped me to grow in ways that I hadn't imagined. But it is also extremely important to surround yourself with the right energy - you will end up laughing a little louder and living a little bigger.
Food
I know this may sound tres ridiculous but I live to eat and not eat to live. Sometimes I feel like it is a disease to enjoy food this much. I'm thinking about what I will eat next before finishing my current meal! That being said, I love exploring different cuisines and restaurants all around Dubai. I mean, there is one opening practically every second day and I end up going to a minimum of three every week through my blog (which actually suits me just fine, ha!) - last week, faves were Dusty's DIFC, Treehouse at the Taj Dubai, and Intersect by Lexus at DIFC.
Bikram Yoga
Now I don't really enjoy calm workouts aka normal yoga, as I generally have a very hyper personality and need something loud to kickstart my day with - but Bikram was an eye-opener. This is the only time in the day when I can absolutely shut down for 90 minutes (my PR girls will understand, considering it really is a 24-hour job) and focus on listening to the instructor and allow him to guide my life. I've recently got on the Guavapass bandwagon (I booked my Bikram yoga on their app) after my friends wouldn't stop bragging about it - it has been absolutely revolutionary! It's like deciding what to eat everyday... but the menu is anything from Kickboxing to Bikram, to Crossfit, to Pilates.
Netflix
If I am not blogging or working out or attending an event, or catching up with my girls for ladies nights, or battling traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road, you will find me glued to my couch for hours. That is when the rest of the world ceases to exist - sometimes you need that solitariness because after talking to at a very minimum of 30 people everyday in my line of work (I love to talk, so it's my fault, really), I need my evenings to reboot. Sometimes a glass of bubbles with dance music does the trick too!
Planning where to travel next
Irrespective of how tired I may be or the number of endless commitments I have, you can ask me for a last minute unplanned vacation and I will drop everything in a heartbeat. They say that the best stories are found between the pages of a passport and how true that is. It's not about escaping my daily life but the passion to learn about different cultures and physically touch, see and experience what Mother Nature has created.
