A security guard has been charged with premeditated murder in the Court of First Instance for allegedly stabbing a flatmate to death.
The 45-year-old Egyptian man confessed in the investigation to the charge claiming it was over old disputes.
According to prosecution records, he was under the influence of alcohol when he committed the crime on December 18, last year.
"He said he wanted to kill the victim, a Nepalese, and would have beheaded him if given the chance. He claimed he planned the attack two days earlier and that he suspected the victim sexually assaulted him while he was sleeping," a police lieutenant said in the investigation.
One of the neighours, an Indian vendor, 32, told the investigators that he heard the screams of a woman.
"I opened my door and saw her standing at the door of the other flat. There was another woman inside the place screaming for help".
The victim was lying down with his clothes covered in blood.
"I called the watchman and informed him about the incident. Within minutes he came to the flat and the police and ambulance arrived as well".
A Nepali woman, a waitress, 32, said that she and her colleague heard screams of help coming from another flat which was rented by the hotel where they worked. They then saw their workmate lying down and his clothes covered in blood.
As they screamed other workmates went out of their flats. They went later to give a statement at Al Qusais police station.
A police lieutenant quoted S.S. as admitting to having stabbed the victim over previous disputes.
He confessed that he waited for other flatmates to leave to attack the victim with a knife.
He said that he took the victim by surprise while the latter was playing on a tablet. He first thought about killing him with a liquor bottle but was worried it would not do the job. He brought a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the chest and abdomen. The victim pushed him back and tried to walk to the door screaming for others' help. In the meantime, S.S. left him and sat smoking a cigarette until the cops arrived and arrested him.
The victim died on his way to hospital.S.S. is being charged in another case with consuming and possession of alcohol without a license.
The hearing has been adjourned to February 28.
