It was a real show of community spirit on Sunday following a fire which broke out in a residential tower in Dubai Marina.
As hundreds of residents from the Zen Tower stood by and watched Dubai Civil Defence teams tackled the blaze that engulfed the 14-storey building during the morning hours, several restaurants and one hotel opened up their doors to help those affected by the fire.
Several hours after the fire broke out, representatives from the Ghaya Grand Hotel in IMPZ arrived on scene and worked hand-in-hand with the building management of Zen Tower to offer refuge to residents of the building.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Olwin Desouza, General Manager of the hotel said "breakfast, dinner and a room" will be provided for all residents affected by the blaze.
"When we heard of the fire we sent a team down to help these people. We did the same when the Torch Tower fire broke out. Dubai is a place that comes together in a time of crisis so it's part of our nature."
At 5:00pm, he confirmed that 53 rooms in the hotel had now been occupied by residents of the Zen Tower and said he expected an additional "10 rooms to be opened up", to those needing a room for the night.
"The number doesn't matter to us. Our rooms will be made available to all the people that need assistance."
Mighty Quinn's in Jumeirah Beach Residence also stepped in to help out those in need. After hearing news of the fire, it sent out a mail titled 'Zen Tower - Residents Assistance', stating that "in the wake of the (fire) in Zen Tower", it was offering a main meal and drink to residents of the building.
And at the Trocadero Cafe, located next to Zen Tower, staff also opened its doors to residents who were evacuated from the building and offered free water to all as a respite from the windy and dusty weather outside.
