Parking in Abu Dhabi will be free of cost on January 1, the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport (DMAT) in Abu Dhabi said on Monday.

The Integrated Transport Center at DMAT urged the public not to park vehicles in prohibited areas, and not to block traffic flow.
The timing for free parking will extend till 8:00am on January 2. The ITC has asked motorists to stick to the regulations regarding the resident-only permit parking from 9 pm to 8 am.
Customer care centres will be closed during on January 1 and will resume operations from January 2.
Sharjah Municipality also announced free parking on the occasion of the New Year on Sunday, January, 1, 2017.
Atiff Al Zarouni, Director of Parking Department at Sharjah Municipality said that the parking will be free through the day and will resume charging from Monday morning.
