One cannot underestimate the benefits of engaging in outdoor activities to bond with kids. Visiting Dubai Garden Glow promotes not just learning and appreciation of art but it can also forge pleasant memories, create new ideas, encourage open communication, and improve language skills while expanding the imagination of the young ones, according to Dubai parents.

"It was still very vivid to me how my then five-year-old son Adler positively reacted during our first visit to Dubai Garden Glow in early 2016," Dr Rommel Sergio, a psychologist, professor and chair at the faculty of management at Canadian University Dubai, told Khaleej Times. "The glittering lights, blending with mellow music and creative plots depicting famous figures from fairy tales, truly served as an educational spark for my kid. And as we strolled around the area, we had an interesting exchange of conversation about fairy tales, dinosaurs and nature conservation."

"My kid beamed with joy and after we left, he said: 'Daddy, we need to be back here! This place has a lot of things to explore. The Dinosaur Park is the best!'," Sergio added. "So we come back every year and the feeling remains the same - we feel so alive, exhilarated, and excited with each visit."

On a more thoughtful note, Sergio said: "I truly believe that exposing the younger generation to educational tour is a lot beneficial than exposing them with the use of gadgets", adding that in the last five years, research has revealed the adverse effects of gadgets on psychological, social, motor, and cognitive faculties of children.

"I don't want my kids to be fully engaged with gadgets so I always encourage them to go out and explore the world outside," pointed out Vagelyn Tumbaga-Federico, director of human resources at Dusit Thani Dubai. "We always prefer to go out together during weekends especially during winter season and the weather is just perfect to walk around places like Dubai Garden Glow. The unique recreation park with its entertainment and educational areas for kids makes it truly an amazing and a perfect place to visit for the whole family," said Federico, who is a mother to teenaged son Varon Miles, and twins Sunrise and Sunshine.

Indonesian expat Dr Yanti Damayanti said her kids Daniyal Zain (10) and Qaisar Rayyan (6) were thrilled to see the glowing safari and other attractions - including the valley of flowers, butterfly trail, happy forest, peacock tunnel and city of happiness.

"My kids love the place and they always say every time we visit that it's a one-of-a-kind experience to see the stunning garden glow in light and colours," Damayanti said. "But more than the unforgettable experience for the whole family, I believe the luminous theme park also serves as a base for creative thinking. It makes them think outside the box, which aids in their cognitive, social and language development," she added.

Another Dubai parent, Egyptian expat and PR specialist Sherif Soliman, said: "Visiting places like Dubai Garden Glow truly piques your curiosity, broadens your mind and sparks your creativity. There is also a message about environmental protection.

When we visited Dubai Garden Glow, we learnt that the illuminated trees [in Art Park] were made from recycled bottles and small glass containers. That was the cue for me and my kids to talk about preserving nature!"
