Firefighters of Sharjah Civil Defense contained a massive blaze that broke out Monday morning in a fenced scrap area belonging to a company which deals with junk in Al Sajjah industrial area. No casualties have been reported.
Col Sami Al Naqbi, Director of Sharjah Civil Defense, said that they received a call about the raging fire at 11:08am. The operation room dispatched Al Sajja fire station team to respond to the emergency in less than five minutes. Firefighters from Samnan, Muwailih and Hamriay joined them to prevent the fire from spreading to adjoining the areas.
The area houses scraps of automobiles, electronics and electric devices which were gutted by the blaze.
The fire was put out completely by 1:30pm and cooling operation started at 1:40pm. The site will be handed over to police fire experts immediately after the completion of cooling operation (which is expected to finish at 4pm) to determine the cause of the fire.
