Six members of an Indian family sustained serious to moderate injuries in a horrific car accident on Sharjah's Al Dhaid Road.
The injured included four children, as the speeding car turned over several times after hitting a cement barrier as the driver tried to avoid hitting a camel that suddenly appeared on the road.
The car finally settled in a sandy area.
Police immediately dispatched the nearest patrol on Al Dhaid road, after receiving a call in the operation room.
An ambulance, rescue unit, patrol, and traffic experts also arrived on the site of the accident, rushing the family to Al Dhaid hospital where they are receiving treatment.
The Al Dhaid police station have launched an investigation and are searching for the owner of the stray camel.
Police have urged motorists to follow the speed limit, specially in areas where there is movement of camels, to avoid fatal accidents. The police have also advised camel owners not to leave their animals unattended on the roads and streets or else they will be fined up to Dh 1000.
