Celebrating the upcoming National Day on a 'green' note, a young Emirati is giving away 4,000 Ghaf seedlings, the country's national tree, along with different types of flowers.
Jassim Al Tamimi, an Umm Al Quwain resident who runs his own nursery, is distributing the plants to Emiratis working at various local government departments, in some neighbourhoods, and during National Day events.
Al Tamimi gifted UAQ Courts with 600 pots of various flowers, and he set aside 500 roses for people who would be taking part in the celebration at the Khor Park.
"These are apart from 500 Ghaf trees to be distributed at the UAQ Municipality, and 500 rose sprouts and 500 Ghaf trees to be gifted to the Emirati people of Al Raafa area," he said.
With his special eco-gifts, Al Tamimi hopes to make people realise that the UAE is rich in plants, particularly those grown in the mountains, deserts, and valleys of the country.
"We need to plant as many trees as possible to combat desertification," he said, urging young people to plant trees and flowers, start their own nurseries, and learn more about local trees.
As part of his National Day offers, Al Tamimi also extended special discounts on seedlings and fruit saplings to the staff of the UAQ Courts and Municipality.
"This is apart from full advice and care, if needed," he said.
