Two Emiratis are standing trial in the Dubai Court of First Instance on charges of having consensual sex with a male prostitute and stealing his bag.
In the court on Wednesday, the prostitute, a 29-year-old Filipino cook, denied the charge of working in prostitution.
It is believed one of the two defendants (aged 21 and 25) physically assaulted the cook after stealing his bag containing his wallet, a mobile phone, his Emirates ID and Dh3,000 in cash.
The 21-year-old accused admitted to the consensual sex charge in court, while the other denied all the charges levelled against him.
The incident was reported to Al Barsha police station on December 1.
"We went to the scene and found a man (the Filipino accused) with a swollen cheek. He claimed that three men attacked him on the street and forced him inside a car. They drove to a villa where they sexually assaulted him by force," a police corporal said.
He was then taken to the police station to take his statement and then to hospital.
Another police corporal quoted the accused as admitting to working in prostitution. "He first claimed some men assaulted him but later changed his statement. He confessed the others were his friends and that he was working as a prostitute.
"He (the cook) admitted he had consensual sex with the two men and then the 21-year-old accused drove away alone. He claimed he was walking with the other man when the latter took him by surprise and punched him. He fainted and woke up later to find he had been robbed of his belongings."
He gave the police their mobile phone numbers and car registration number.
The police summoned the 21-year-old accused, who admitted to the consensual sex charge, but he claimed it happened on the beach in the dark. He denied the theft charge.
The 25-year-old defendant was summoned with his father.
"He admitted he punched the cook when the latter started getting jealous and told him not to speak to anyone, not even to his mother. He said he took the cook's bag to teach him a lesson."
The two friends then sold the phone and split the money. All the defendants admitted to the charges during the investigation.
The next hearing is set for June 19.
