Drinking Pepsi or any other carbonated drink, or eating food, does not transmit AIDS, the Dubai Municipality confirmed on Sunday.
The food safety management department of the municipality had to issue a statement after rumours that Pepsi being sold in Dubai was contaminated and could cause AIDS.
AIDS, or acquired immune deficiency syndrome, is a spectrum of conditions caused by infection with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
Transmission of the disease takes place through blood, sharing of needles, infected cotton on open wounds, blood transfusions, sexual intercourse, from pregnant mothers to children.
