An office manager, allegedly physically assaulted his countryman, who visited him to claim back the money he had lent him, has been charged in the Court of First Instance on Thursday.
The 39-year-old Pakistani manager has been charged with assaulting the other man and causing him a permanent injury.
The victim, 56, has been charged with trespassing into the manager's property.
The victim said he went to the manager's house on December 12, 2016, to try and work out a settlement about some money the manager owed him.
"I saw the manager outside and claimed my money back from him. But he ignored me and walked inside. So I followed him to try and tell him to come outside to talk about the loan. But he became very angry and punched me and knocked me down. I got injured," the victim told the prosecutor.
"Someone, who happened to be around, stepped in and pulled him away from me. I was then going to complain against the manager but I changed my mind when he promised to settle his dues. He took me to the hospital and there I reported him to the police for the physical assault".
A Pakistani businessman, 62, told the investigators that he witnessed the incident. "I was just passing by the manager's house when I spotted both men arguing outside. Then they went inside and as I followed them I saw one of them laying down, holding his hand which hurt. We took him to the hospital".
The forensic report showed that the victim was left with a bone fracture in his left arm which is a permanent injury.
The trial has been postponed to August 10.
