A housewife, who was allegedly arrested at the Dubai International Airport with drugs in her possession, faced drug charges in the Court of First Instance on Monday.

The 47-year-old Egyptian woman was charged with possession and importing of drugs when her trial began.

The criminal evidence report showed that 38 Tramadol pills were seized from the woman.

A quantity of hashish weighing 187.21 grams was also found in her possession.

A customs inspector said that she had searched the defendant's luggage on August 21 at the airport.

"A sergeant told me to search the traveler in the private room. I did not find any banned substance on her. But in her luggage I found Tramadol tablets," the inspector said.

At first, she denied having any drugs, but when we found Tramadol pills in a medicine box and hashish hidden in her clothes she admitted she brought the drugs for personal use.

The next hearing is set for October 24.
