When it comes to doing workouts, there's always truth to the adage 'strength in numbers.' And when people exercise together, they not only get healthy but also develop a sense of camaraderie.
With this in mind, the staff at a luxury hotel in Dubai has taken the 30X30 Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) for the second time to motivate each other to lead a healthy life and be an inspiration to their guests.
"DFC is a fun and inspiring activity for our team. At the end of 30 days, we expect to boost not only our strength and overall health, but also our camaraderie. Ultimately, the goal is to promote a fit and active routine for our team, guests and the entire emirate which goes way beyond the 30 days of the challenge," Samir Arora, general manager at The Retreat Palm Dubai, told Khaleej Times on Sunday.
"As the first and only holistic wellness resort in the UAE, it is imperative for us to be part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, and serve as ambassadors for a fitter and happier community. On top of promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among the members of our team and our guests, our goal is to encourage everyone to be mindful of their health by allocating time within their busy schedule to have a fitness routine," he added.
According to Arora, The Retreat Palm Dubai is running a number of classes daily at the resort hotel - from laughter yoga to boot camp and Zumba classes this year. Fitness experts from the hotel also hold classes at three different locations across Dubai at Al Ittihad Park, Kite Beach and Khawaneej Park.
"As hospitality professionals working long hours and with busy operations, this can be a hurdle. Fortunately, with our team's innate passion for fitness and wellbeing, we are confident that we will succeed for a second year running," Arora said.
Last year, at the inaugural Dubai Fitness Challenge, The Retreat Palm Dubai set a new Guinness World Record for the 'Most Nationalities in a Yoga Lesson' - with 112 nationalities involved.
"This year, our goal is to have an impressive turnout of associates and guests who can complete the 30-day challenge. We have a wide variety of classes as well as fitness facilities so there is something to suit every taste and personality," he added.
