Going the extra mile to ensure everyone's safety, the Dubai Police has helped a diabetic four-year-old girl get a nurse who can keep an eye on her at school every day.
It was a move that solved the family's dilemma. The girl's mother recently aired their problem at a morning live show on local radio.
She lamented that her daughter's school didn't have a nurse who can handle students suffering from chronic diseases like diabetes.
The mum was told that no one would be able to give insulin shots to her daughter or even monitor her blood sugar levels.
She was then advised to be with her daughter at school every day - which was not possible since she's a working mum, she said.
Upon hearing the mother's complaint on the radio, the Dubai Police got in touch with the Minister of Health and Prevention, Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, who immediately provided a nurse, along with necessary equipment, to the child.
Brigadier Saeed Hamad bin Sulaiman Al Malek, director of Al Rashidiya police station, said all kindergartens and schools need nurses who can properly look after students of determination and children with chronic conditions.
He added that at the Dubai Police, responding to such cases is part of a strategy to serve the community beyond expectations.
