The Ministry of Environment and Water launched three initiatives to boost agriculture, during the second day of the UAE Innovation Week, which will run till November 18.
The three innovative projects Drop of Life, Biological Filter and Innovation in Agricultural Work were launched in Al Hamraniya, Ras Al Khaimah,
The Drop of Life initiative will focus on a prototype device designed to draw moisture from air and turn it into water for plant irrigation, and to prevent water shortage and preserving groundwater supply.
'Biological Filter is a device to be used in organic farming, especially in terms of production, agricultural marketing, soil fertility, and seed production. The project is aligned with the ministry's aim to develop local organic farming.
And the 'Agricultural E-Guide' is a website to attract innovative ideas in agriculture from UAE citizens and residents, as well as those living outside the country.
The proposals were to be reviewed by experts to assess their impact and applicability, as well as determine how these ideas can be turned into concrete projects.
The e-guide will provide interested individuals with the best international practices and benefits.
The website has been designed to include several features to aid the agricultural sector, local farmers, and those involved in organic farming, beekeeping and agricultural marketing.
It will help facilitate agreements between the Ministry of Environment and Water and cooperative groups to find markets for and promote domestic products as well as seek solutions to challenges facing the local farming sector.
