Passengers who have been affected by the suspension of Air India Express flights to and from Dubai International Airport will now fly from Sharjah instead, announced the airline.
Earlier today, the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) suspended Air India Express flights flying to and from Dubai for 15 days, for flying two passengers carrying Covid-19 positive test results from India to Dubai on two separate occasions.
The affected passengers who have booked to fly from Dubai are also being given the option to re-book to a future date, stated the budget airline.
The airline has introduced additional flights from Sharjah International Airport to accommodate the affected passengers, said AIE in an official statement to the media.
"In order to mitigate the inconvenience that may be caused to passengers booked to fly to Dubai, the Airline has introduced additional flights to Sharjah to accommodate the affected passengers," said the airline.
On Friday, September 18, Air India Express flights from Sharjah will depart to these Indian cities - Calicut, Thiruvananthapuram, Delhi, Mumbai, and Kannur.
Several passengers who had booked their tickets for the weekend have also begun receiving messages from the airline stating that their flights will now depart from Sharjah International Airport.
One passenger who was to fly from Dubai to Kannur International Airport in Kerala on September 18 at 4.30 pm has said she has received e-mail from the airline informing her that she will now have to depart from Sharjah at 11.55 pm instead, Khaleej Times has learnt. Other passengers are also receiving similar e-mails and SMS notifications from the airline.
