Thousands of people gathered Friday evening to find out what World Expo 2020 Dubai has in store for the world three years from now. The event held at The Beach opposite the Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) marked the three-year countdown to Expo 2020 with an array of expo-themed activities. The celebration featured a fitness challenge, live music and entertainment, and a chance to learn more about Expo 2020.
The Autonomous Air Taxi that flies itself using programmed routes through GPS navigation was also one of the key attractions at the event.
Alya Al Ali, director of Youth Connect, Expo 2020 Dubai, said: "Millions of people will come together for the Expo 2020. Today's activities are centred around the innovations first showcased at previous World Expos such as television, the gramophone and telephones. Besides that, we have included fun experiences for kids and families including a six-metre high zip line."
Starting on October 20, 2020, the Expo is expected to draw 25 million visitors from all around the world. It is the first time that a World Expo will be held in the Middle East region.
