The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Saturday reported 424 new cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 112 recoveries. Two deaths were also reported.
More than 70,079 new Covid-19 tests were carried out, the ministry added.

The ministry has urged the public to cooperate and stick to the Covid-19 precautionary measures outlined by the UAE government. According to authorities, the UAE witnessed a surge in Covid-19 cases in the past few days mainly because of non-compliance of precautionary measures outlined by the country. Speaking at a live broadcast of the UAE government's 'Commit to Win' campaign, a senior official has said  new violations will be introduced in coordination with the competent authorities to stop the spread of Covid-19.
On Thursday, Dr Saif Al Dhaheri, spokesman for National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA), had warned that the National Sterilisation Programme could return if the number of cases kept increasing. The UAE had completed its national sterilisation programme on June 24 and lifted all restriction on movement. The countrywide programme, which was launched on March 26 to fight the coronavirus, saw a complete sterilisation of all facilities in the UAE including public transportation, streets and other public areas.
In an initiative launched recently by the Abu Dhabi City Municipality, blue-collar workers have been urged by the local authorities to continue adhering to anti-Covid measures following the sudden spurt in coronavirus cases across the country. A civic body team visited them at their workplaces to reiterate the anti-Covid message and renew the call to stick to the prescribed preventive measures. The team stressed on the need to avoid crowding, follow social distancing, wear face masks- and refrain from touching the face, except after washing hands with soap and water for 20 to 30 seconds. The industrial areas have also seen massive national disinfection and Covid-19 testing programmes covering each sector of various blocks.
