A man accused of molesting and verbally harassing a teenager in Dubai has been arrested.
The 14-year-old Jordanian boy had been walking back to his home in Mirdif with a friend in March, 2017.
A car pulled up with the 38-year-old Emirati suspect, who disembarked, approached the victim and asked about his nationality. The other boy fled.
According to the boy's testimony: "He dragged me from my shirt behind an electric generator on the side road. He then offered to have sex with me, but I refused and tried to resist him."
The accused forcibly gripped the boy's shirt and molested him. The boy managed to push him away and escape and reported the incident to his father.
He was able to identify the accused from a police line-up a few days later.
The suspect admitted to prosecutors that he was in Mirdif at the time of the incident and met the boys.
He faces molestation and verbal harassment charges.
