The child who fell from the fifth floor of a building in Ajman is in stable condition, according to Saleh Hamad Al Junaibi, Director of Khalifa bin Zayed hospital in Ajman.
Earlier on Sunday, a mother and her 11-month-old boy fell from Al Jazeera Paint building in Ajman's Al Nuamia. Unfortunately, the Sudanese mother died on the spot on Sunday morning.
According to initial investigations, it was reported that the mother jumped behind her child in an attempt to save her.
Commenting on the boy's condition, doctors said he had been admitted in Intensive Care Unit as he suffered multiple fractures, including a broken spine and a broken thigh. His nervous system is also being 'evaluated'.
The case has been transferred to Ajman Police for investigation and necessary legal procedures.
The Director of Police Stations Ajman Police Lt. Col. Ali Jabr Al Shamsi said that the operations room in Ajman Police received a report about a woman having fallen from a building with an infant child from the fifth floor of a residential building in Nuaimia.
The police found the mother's body on arriving at the site of the incident. She was holding her boy, who was alive and was immediately shifted to Sheikh Khalifa Ajman Hospital.
According to the husband, his wife was suffering from depression and was getting medical treatment at Ajman's Khalifa Hospital and Central Hospital in Sharjah. She succumbed to her injuries, including multiple fractures she received on impact, Lt Col. Al Shamsi added.
He further said that forensic investigation around the room showed that the door was locked from the inside and there was no criminal intent found.
The husband works as Director of a company in Dubai and had brought his wife to UAE in 2016.
She delivered the boy at Al Qassimi hospital in Ajman.
An investigation has further revealed that on the day of the incident he had gone to immigration to expedite his wife's visa as she was living here on a visit visa.
He was at work when the police informed him about the tragic accident.
