Ajman's International Humanitarian and Charity Organisation (IHCO) on Tuesday airlifted 70 tonnes of food aid to Lebanon's capital Beirut to help the thousands of people affected by the massive explosion last week.
As soon as news of the Beirut blasts broke, the IHCO has swung into action and sent relief, upon the directives of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman.
The IHCO immediately went to Beirut to assess the destruction and provide support through its local office.
Dr Khalid Abdulwahab Al Khaja, executive manager of the organisation, led its delegation that supervised the packaging and loading of the latest batch of relief that was sent to Lebanon on Tuesday morning.
The IHCO will ensure that the food supplies will reach people who need them most, Al Khaja said. Its Beirut office is ready for distribution once the aid arrives.
