A man, who allegedly transported gas cylinders in his own vehicle, stood trial on Thursday in the Court of First Instance.
The 34-year-old Afghan, working as a baker, has been charged with transporting an inflammable material, violating the effective relevant rules and regulations.
He is also accused of trading in the material without having the required permission from the competent authorities.
This is a re-trial of the baker. He was found guilty by the Court of Cassation in September, 2017, and sentenced to three months in jail and ordered to pay a Dh10,000 fine.
The Dubai top court also ordered the confiscation of the gas cylinders found with the accused.
The complaint had been registered on December 21, 2016, at Jebel Ali police station.
"We were informed by the Dubai Police operations room about a problem in the industrial area around 1:30pm. We went to the scene and spoke to the man who called the police. He told us that he was assigned by the gas company to conduct inspection visits on violators who transport gas cylinders in their own private vehicles and sell them illegally," a police corporal said.
"That witness said that as he passed through the industrial area, he spotted a vehicle dropping a gas cylinder at a bakery. When he talked to the driver - the accused - the latter confessed that he was delivering cylinders to bakeries in the area. Besides, his vehicle, the witness added, was full with cylinders loaded in a hazardous way."
The defendant admitted during public prosecution investigation and police interrogation to the charges.
A new ruling is expected on January 18.
